OUR SERVICES

CRIMINAL APPEALS:

Criminal Appeals are an area of practice for our firm. Once a conviction has occurred, a number of legal errors may have occurred, and therefore can be attacked in the Appellate Courts. Learn More

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE:

A fun night out with friends can quickly become one of the worst experiences of your life, and if you have been charged with DUI (driving under the influence) you have experienced this quick change first hand.  With the legal limit being a mere .08 percent, there is not much room for error as far as drinking and driving is concerned.  A person may only consume one or two alcoholic beverages before becoming “legally intoxicated” in the eyes of the law.  Learn More

DRUG CASES:
Drug crimes are serious criminal offenses that can land even first-time offenders in prison. If you have been accused of or arrested for a Los Angeles drug crime, you must act fast and consult a qualified criminal defense lawyer who can work to protect your rights and help you avoid serving time in prison. Learn More

EXPUNGEMENTS:
An expungement is a process by which a conviction or plea of either Guilty or No Contest in a criminal case is set aside and the case is dismissed. It relieves the defendant of certain penalties and disabilities that result from a criminal action. You may file an expungement petition after you have fulfilled all terms of probation, or have been discharged from the original term of probation, or have not been placed on probation and all your sentence terms have been completed.

RESTRAINING ORDERS:
Attorney Joseph Bakshandeh also concentrates his practice on restraining orders in the state of California. He aggressively pursues Court orders on behalf of those who are victims of domestic violence and need protection as well as those seeking protection from civil harassment.   The firm also defends against any restraining order sought for frivolous or unlawful purposes.

SEX CRIMES:

A sex offense is one of the most serious types of crimes that a person may face charges for. The nature of a sex crime and the fact that it may be perpetrated against a child or other innocent victim makes the social stigma associated with a conviction all the more disastrous to a defendant’s future. Add the possibility of mandatory sex offender registration to the mix and you have a situation that most definitely requires the attention of a skilled criminal defense attorney as soon as possible.

THREE STRIKES CRIMES:
Three strikes is a sentencing scheme in California that dramatically increases punishment for people that are repeat offenders.

If you or someone you care about has been charged with a felony, and has a prior criminal record, it is critical to consult with a skilled criminal defense attorney right away.

VIOLENT CRIMES:
When a person uses violent force or the threat of violent force upon a victim during the commission of a crime, this is characterized as a violent crime.  Violent crimes are fairly common in Los Angeles, and can be committed with or without a weapon.  If a weapon was used during the violent crime, a person may face additional charges for possessing and using a weapon.  There are four main types of offenses which are considered to be violent crimes.

These include:

  • Murder and non-negligent manslaughter
  • Forcible rape
  • Robbery
  • Assault
  • Aggravated Assault

WHITE COLLAR CRIMES:
Non-violent acts involving deception, typically known as white collar crimes, are commonly committed by a person of business or a public official. Signs of a white collar crime normally involve a trail of evidence known as a "paper trail," that investigators use for prosecution of the case. If you have been charged with a white collar crime in Los Angeles, please contact one of our cutting-edge attorneys as soon as possible. A Los Angeles white collar crimes attorney will help you defend your rights.

There are many different types of white collar crimes, and if you have been charged with any of the following you should speak to a lawyer at Bakshandeh & Associates:

  • Embezzlement - the taking of someone's property by a person with whom it is entrusted.
  • Bribery - occurs when someone gives or takes a bribe.
  • Larceny - involves taking someone's property without paying for or returning it.
  • Extortion - also known as blackmail.
  • Fraud - this often includes but is not limited to health care fraud and tax fraud.
  • Price Fixing - an agreement between two parties to set prices for a certain product, thereby violating free market operations.
  • Racketeering - the extortion of money by force or a pattern of criminal activity committed to further interests of a criminal syndicate.
